We, the undersigned, petition the Council to Removal of Stickers on Manchester private hire vehicles
More details from petitioner:
Gangs of youngsters have started targeting manchester private hire cars has become an unwelcome trend for many years but as time goes on, and without any police intervention, the situation is getting worse.
Nearly every manchester private hire driver in years or months of driving has suffered unwanted damage to their vehicles resulting a hefty bill from the workshop or even worse getting a bill from where they hire their vehicle if not owned getting every dent or damaged repaired for its next m.o.t is not fair on any driver.
Currently we are going through strict m.o.t inspections with 3 m.o.t`s a year and having to be feeling paranoid and to be driving in fear through certain areas of manchester and waiting to be welcomed by the next stone or brick. living in that fear and hoping that the stones do not hit the driver causing an accident or far worse the customers being hit.
The gangs target manchester taxis why?? well its like having a lollipop man or cyclist wearing high visibility jackets whcih ensures drivers can see them from more than a mile away. these youngsters can see a manchester private hire vehicle due to the big yellow stickers wrapped all over the vehicle bonnet, wing fenders, rear windscreen and internal glass stickers giving the youngsters enough time to aim, focus and throw at will.
The solution to the problem is having the stickers removed from the vehicles.. not only will it reduce the amount of damage it will be harder for these kids to identify the vehicle to be a taxi from a distance. we understand that why these stickers were made mandatory however times have changed majority of customers now use app based cab services where it shows the drivers and vehicle details.
Our aim is to provide the best and safe customer service and having to live in that fear where we could be hurt our customers can be hurt is unacceptable.
